We live by the understanding that 'Design adds value to Business: whereas Fun adds value to Design', for this reason we always approach design with curiosity, a sense of humour and a cheeky smile.
So if you are considering a Design or Design Research project, we look forward to hearing from you so that we can all get excited and start making things!
Great design come from great decisions. Decisions which are either made through moments of deep inspiration & determination, or through in-depth 'design research' that identifies trends, risks, opportunities and solutions.
Since Flip Design was set up in 2009, we have been involved in a number of large scale research projects, part funded by Better By Design and NZT&E, and have delivered significant insights and recommendations to our customers, ensuring they remain confident, inspired and ahead of competitors.
Whether you are looking to explore new markets, wishing to identify opportunities, or wanting to understand your customers, we can provide understandable & engaging research outcomes that will be valuable to your business.
Most importantly, we will involve you in the process to ensure that understandings can be experienced first hand and shared throughout your organisation.
Whether it be a robust factory machine or a gorgeous consumer product, we combine solid usability & ergonomic principals with Intuition & Insight to achieve the right subtleties of both form and function.
We are inspired by making products that provide a great experience by being easy & intuitive to use, but more importantly we love to produce designs that tell stories through the unconscious communication of brand values, product purpose, usage and context.
With a deep understanding and strong experience in print production and design, we can work with you to create new company names & logos, develop marketing material and get you onto the web.
We have examples of work ranging from small scale print material, through to packaging and box design, right up to large banners and bus signage. We have worked with small companies in the early days of inception, through to large companies wishing to evolve their market position.
Our skills in ergonomics and usability translate directly to the design and development of digital interfaces, where we position ourselves as user advocates throughout the development process, to ensure interfaces are goal oriented, intuitive and a pleasure to use.
Our experiences range from web based software interfaces that support business efficiencies, through to touch interfaces for elevator control systems and clinician oriented medical devices. Our constructive approach to Interface design allows us to easily work with your existing software development team to provide graphic development and user interaction support.
Because we have no idea what the word boredom actually means we do other things instead! Like teaching kids 3D modelling and animation, baking cookies, getting inspired by TED Talks, or writing books. Sometimes we do actually get out of the office and go overseas, slide down a mountain, or go outside to curse the brightness (and look at daffodils).
